Former US Secretary of State John Kerry has said he has no doubt the international community is committed to seeing democratic end to Kenya’s electoral process.

He has called on Kenyan leaders to act in a manner that inspires confidence as the concerned institutions and stakeholders work to end the impasse over vote transmission.

“So far, IEBC has conducted the process well. We urge Kenyans to exercise patience as IEBC moves to rectify the emerging issues on results’ management.”

Kerry is the head of mission of Cater Centre – a US-based NGO which does not speak for the American government.

When he arrived in the country, the former US special envoy asked parties aggrieved by the poll process to go to court.

“We would encourage the candidates at the top level to be very clear to their followers about the critical need of Kenya setting an example to the world.”

He vouched for resolution of differences “through the legitimacy of institutions.”

“At no time should anybody resort to self help, acts of violence of step outside the legitimate legal process,” he said on Monday.

Kerry, during his visit of the Bomas of Kenya national tallying centre, was briefed by IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba.

The National Super Alliance has rejected the results being streamed by the electoral commission’s public web portal.

ODM leader Raila Odinga termed the results fake, fraudulent and urged Kenyans to ignore the same.
