In an attempt to jump the long lines at the polling stations, some fathers strapped toddlers on their back to jump queues. This is the only time Kenyan fathers display public affection to their children.

Kenyans generally were thirsty to exercise their democratic right, today’s date was set out in the constitution that was passed in 2010.

Some of the children cried hysterically because they have never been on their father’s backs!

How child refused to โ€˜cooperateโ€™ on the queue

A video of a child who wailed uncontrollably as a woman tried to strap it on her back has gone viral.

In the video, the woman attempts to carry the child right outside the door of her polling station but the child wails and kicks her.

On lookers laugh at her forcing her to step aside.

Women and men were on Tuesday using children to jump the voting queues as the electoral officials were giving priority to those with children.

Photos of men carrying children also went viral as users wondered why men only became caregivers on the Election Day.

Some cases of parents coming with children to the polling station were genuine while others were so as to avoid queuing.

Elections officials started marking babies with indelible ink to prevent opportunists from using them to dodge queuing.

Here are some reactions to the โ€œuseโ€ of children during voting:

We should reject corruption the same way this kid has refused to be used. ??#KenyaDecides pic.twitter.com/hZ02QkQLMv

I celebrate these fathers. Taking their family duties and civic duties very seriously. They inspire me. #ElectionsKE2017 #SokoNews pic.twitter.com/Wf1XgYmXiU

These type of Kenyans who love short cuts this much are the reason we keep making steps backwards in the fight against corruption
