Women leaders tell Laboso successor that Deputy governor post is theirs: Women leaders have called on Bomet incoming governor Hillary Barchok to pick a woman deputy in honour of the late Governor Dr Joyce Laboso.
Speaking during Dr Labosoโs burial ceremony at Fort Tenan, Kisumu County, the leaders led by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and her Kirinyaga counterpart Anne Mumbi, the leaders said they will be ready to help the new governor to choose among the many educated and qualified women in Bomet to be his deputy.
We are watching the seat very closely, and we are ready to advise, to guide and even to help you choose a woman from Bomet as your deputy,โ Ngilu told the mourners amid cheers from women.
The women praised Laboso as an n exemplary leader who was passionate about girl child education.
They said choosing a woman as a deputy governor in Bomet will be fulfilling Labosoโs dream.The burial ceremony was also attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Also in attendance are Deputy President William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kanu party leader Gideon Moi, Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Msyoka among several governors, senators, and MPs.
The governor served as Sotik MP from 2008 to 2017 before clinching the Bomet Governor seat.She succumbed to cancer on July 29 at Nairobi Hospital.
