A 55-year-old Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer was found dead with his body hanging from a rope tied to the rafters of his neighbour’s house at Kapkiamo Village in Baringo county on December 11.
First reported by K24 Digital, Kimosop Chepkwony allegedly committed suicide after realizing that his wife was cheating on him with their married neighbour.
Kiptui Cherutich, who is a brother to the deceased told K24 Digital that Chepkwony was seen buying a sisal rope at Kapkiamo shopping centre on the evening of Tuesday, December 10.
“He also bought several sticks of cigarettes and left in frustration.
“We did not know where he went to thereafter,” remarked Cherutich as quoted by the news outlet.
Cherutich further revealed that Chepkwony did not spend the night at his home on Tuesday, December 10, and no one knew of his whereabouts.
“On Wednesday morning, we heard our neighbour’s wife screaming that she had seen Chepkwony’s body hanging from the rafters of her house,” added Cherutich.
Aaron Yegon, another brother to the deceased also indicated that Chepkwony often complained that his spouse who is aged 40 years, was secretly seeing the next-door neighbour who is a retired KDF soldier since 1997.
After finding the body, police officers in the county led by Baringo County Police Commander, Robinson Ndiwa arrived at the scene where they launched investigations in the mysterious death of Chepkwony.
However, members of Chepkwony’s family could not rule out the possibility of him being killed and hung in the house as his feet were found touching the floor, therefore calling for more investigations to identify the real reason that led to his death.
The alleged lover to Chepkwony’s widow and his wife were arrested and taken to a Baringo North police post.
The body of the deceased was taken to a Baringo hospital mortuary awaiting his burial.
