XYZ Show, Picha Mtaani & Cartoonists together for Kesho Imefika Festival

XYZ Show, Picha Mtaani & Cartoonists together for Kesho Imefika FestivalFriday, January 25th,2013 –ย An initiative in partnership with InformAction, a non profit human rights organization which focuses on civil rights to encourage action, understanding and the desire for real change, will be having artists converging next week for an election awareness concert of sorts.

The XYZ Show, Boniface Mwangi’s Picha Mtaani and leading Kenyan cartoonists will be taking the public on an artistic journey reflecting the 2007/2008 post electoral violence as Kenyans prepare to vote in the March General Elections.

The event dubbedย Kesho Imefikaย is a festival on elections and leadership that will take place between 28th January and 1st February at the Alliance Francaise and entrance is absolutely free for all.

Topics such as Kenyaโ€™s diverse cultural ethnicity and tribes will be addressed through the films of InformAction, live music performance, Picha Mtaani cartoons, drawings and photographs, while also giving a clear picture of the importance of having safe, but most importantly, free and fair elections this year.

Artists and speakers will tackle land issues and reforms, governance and leadership and also corruption and impunity while engaging Kenyans in an urgent need to demand social and political accountability.

An interactive session after every movie clip will be hosted by none other than former Chairman of the Kenya National Human Rights Commission Maina Kiai, who is also the UN Special Rapporteur on the Freedom of Assembly and of Association.
