More Details

In April 2018, a young woman named Tamara Risheel gained widespread attention in Nairobi when she appeared at Yaya Centre holding a placard claiming to be President Uhuru Kenyatta’s “unknown” daughter.

The placard read: “Meet Tamara Risheel. Unknown President Uhuru Kenyatta’s daughter. My big dream is to meet my daddy in person for the first time. I love my daddy.”

Her bold statement quickly went viral on social media, prompting swift action from the authorities. Police apprehended her and took her to Kilimani Police Station, where she was detained over the weekend.

Reports suggest that she was not formally charged, and her arrest was likely due to the public nature of her claim.

On Monday, Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua, popularly known as Jaguar, intervened on her behalf and secured her release from police custody.

During an interview on Ebru TV’s Chipukeezy Show, Tamara clarified that she was not actually President Kenyatta’s daughter by blood. She explained that she is an aspiring musician who had composed a song dedicated to the President and hoped to meet him to share her music.

Following her release, Tamara was introduced to media personalities including comedian Chipukeezy and radio host Willy M Tuva, who expressed support for her musical aspirations.

Her story highlights the power of social media in amplifying personal narratives and the complexities that can arise when public figures are involved, even indirectly.
