Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga refused to undergo security screening ย at Kogelo, where former US President Barack Obama is expected to inaugurate a project.
According to reports on a local site, the governor declines to be searched, citing the fact that he is the countyโs governor.
โI am the governor of this county, I will not be searched,โ Rasanga reportedly told the security team.
Kenyans reacted to Rasangaโs sentiments:
@samwambuguย The governor is right, Obama should give us a break, he is no longer a president; therefore, his security team must not undermine our leaders. Who searched Obama when he was getting to state house?
@RichieMungashย If I have hosted you in my home, should I be searched for the visitor to feel safe. Host gvnor is a dignitary and his profile in such a situation does not warrant a search. Lets recognise the worthiness of our leaders . I see next time you will search Uhuru.
@petermwaurajohnย Exactly what ails Kenya. Pathetic!
@cleophasoluochย How I wish he could have been recorded saying that.
@neuro_wordsย Entitlement.. Governors should humble themselves.
Obama is set to inaugurate the Sauti Kuu Foundationโs project, which comprises of a sports centre, resource and vocational training centre run by his sister, Dr Auma Obama.
