Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Tuesday 28 August issued an advice to Chief Justice David Maraga hours after the arrest of Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu.
Mutahi advised the Chief Justice to watch his back after posing a question on whether Mwilu will survive the prosecution.
“If FORMER Deputy CJ lost her JOB for SLAPPING a Watchman (woman), will Mwilu Survive? Maraga SHOULD watch his BACK as well,” warned Mutahi.
Mwilu, who had been picked up from her office in the Supreme Court building and ushered into a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) car by her own security detail, was charged over alleged corruption claims, abuse of office and tax evasion.
According to Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji, CJ Maraga had already been informed Mwilu’s arrest before it happened.
“This afternoon, I informed Chief Justice David Maraga of my decision to grant consent for arrest and prosecution of the DCJ Lady Justice Philomena Mbete Mwilu. This decision has not been taken lightly but it’s the right decision under the law… Investigating and punishing wrongdoing is difficult and painful, but it has to be done. We did this out of respect, and she is also our boss,” said Noordin.
