I hate to speak or write about something while under the influence of emotions. But this time round, I cannot help it. To lose such a very close friend to me in a mysterious death is something that is beyond my comprehension. I am shocked and angry by this turn of events with respect to Ms. Esther Colombini’s death. Kenya has, in the past, lost so many prominent citizens in mysterious deaths. A former Commissioner of Police, Mr. Phillip Kilonzo and a former Police Reservist, who was also Assistant Director for Administration in Starehe Boys’ Centre, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Patrick Shaw are just but a few examples, among many others.
At this point in time, Kenyans already know some certain facts. THAT there have been turf wars between Inspector-General of Police, Mr. David Kimaiyo and the Chairman of the National Police Service Commission, Mr. Johnstone Kavuludi which have resulted to a blame-game over sky-rocketing insecurity in the country. THAT the local media recently reported that the over-ambitious and power-hungry David Kimaiyo has taken over the responsibilities of his Deputy Inspector-General, Ms. Grace Kaindi for reasons best known to him. THAT Ms. Esther Colombini was not only the Deputy Chairperson of NPSC, but one of the most influential persons and power-broker inside and outside the National Police Service Commission. THAT prior to her sudden death, she was at work before she was taken ill and rushed to MP Shah Hospital.
We, in the Diaspora, demand a thorough and intensive investigation by the Government to establish the actual cause of this mysterious death of Ms. Esther Colombini. Unless proved otherwise, we suspect foul-play.
