A couple caused a spectacle on Tuesday during Parliamentary proceedings in Tanzania at the invitation of one of the Members of Parliament.
The newly weds, Jivunie Mbunda and Bahati Ramadhan were invited by Liwale MP, Zuberi Kuchauka and their presence announced by Speaker Job Ndugai.
“As it was recently reported, Mr Jivunie Mbunda has married, and they are in our midst today,” Mr Ndugai announced.
As they walked in the MPs made ‘baby, baby, baby’ chants, as Mrs Mbunda carried her husband who many say is as tall as small bucket.
The groom is said to have paid TSh.150,000 (KSh.6,652) for his 25 year old bride who has been married before with two children.
Mbunda is also a father of one but was yet to find the right woman to settle down with until he bumped into Bahati.
The MPs, in show of support for the couple donated part of their day’s sitting allowance.
“It has been a normal practice for us to contribute in wedding events. We have room to do the same for this couple. So I suggest we donate Sh.20,000 (KSh.887) from our sitting allowance,” MP Abdalah Mtolea proposed.
