To many the word “territorial” bears a negative connotation. However, there is positive and impactful side of territorialism when you recognize the true meaning of your territory and your role in it.
A few years ago, I had a revelation that where we are geographically is not by accident, that wherever we are if led of God, are God assigned placements to accomplish specific tasks.
I’ve come to understand the definition of territory in this concept to mean; your neighborhood and the surrounding cities, your current job, your calling or vocation, your family, your church and even your marital status.
The idea behind staying territorial is to ensure you are accomplishing what God assigned you to do while in that position or geographical location. That said you may wonder what your assignment is. If you don’t start by praying.
Pray for your neighbors and your neighborhood. Pray for the local and state officials, pray for the schools and colleges in your area. Pray for your boss and coworkers. Pray for your employer. Pray for the city your job is located.
Pray for the patients in hospitals and birthing centers around you. Pray for the pastors and other churches in your area. I believe God has strategically placed each believer somewhere with an assignment to do something. Start with prayer, then ask God to show you what you are supposed to accomplish wherever He has placed you.
Being aware of our territorial assignments also keeps us focused and curbs unnecessary conflicts. For instance, if you know your calling/identity, you will not copy or strive with someone else. In fact, you may not even care what someone does or does not do; instead you will put all effort in what God called you to do.
Joshua 1:3 comes to mind
It says , I (The Lord) will give you every place where you set your foot as I promised to Moses.
s your foot somewhere right now. That’s your territory too; release God’s Kingdom in that atmosphere. Where God’s Kingdom is released, signs and wonders follow! Hallelujah!
This week, ponder on this Scripture with an open mind; aspire to live quietly with everyone, mind your own business, work with your own hands…. 1Thessalonians 4:11. Your home is your territory, your marriage is your territory, your own life is your territory. Ask God what He wants you to accomplish in your territory. Guard it, work hard at it, be the best at it. Stay and nurture your territory.
